Makinde Inaugurates Judicial Commission to Probe Oriire School Abduction, Vows Justice for Victims

The Oyo State Government has officially inaugurated an eight-member Judicial Commission of Inquiry to investigate the abduction of students and teachers in Esinele and Yawota communities of Oriire Local Government Area.

The commission, inaugurated by Governor Seyi Makinde, is chaired by retired Justice of the Court of Appeal, Professor Mojeed Owoade. Other members include Professor Jibril Ibrahim, Mrs. Ayo Obe, retired Assistant Inspector General of Police Ngozi Onadeko, Dr. Abimbola Orogade, retired Major General Sanusi Nasir Muazu (former General Officer Commanding, 2 Division), and Mr. Folorunsho Osunrayi, while Mrs. Olamide Sandra Tella will serve as the Secretary to the panel.

Speaking during the inauguration, Governor Makinde commended the distinguished panelists for accepting the responsibility without hesitation, describing the assignment as a crucial service to the people of Oyo State.

"I called you out on a national assignment and none of the eight of you hesitated for once to accept to participate on this important call to duty. God bless you," the governor said.

The Judicial Commission is expected to thoroughly investigate the circumstances surrounding the abduction, establish the facts, recommend measures to prevent future occurrences, and provide actionable recommendations that will strengthen security and ensure justice for the affected students, teachers, and their families.

The move underscores the Makinde administration's commitment to transparency, accountability, and the protection of lives and property across Oyo State.
