Excitement As Two Speed Trains Land In Ibadan

Exciting among Nigerian Railways officials as the first speed trains landed at Ologuneru Ibadan on Thursday ahead of August when commercial activity would be rolled out.

The speed train completed 152 km out of the 157 km-long project for the Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge lane.
Alhaji Ibrahim Alhassan, Chairman of the Nigerian Railway said the remaining five kilometres would be linked before month end.

In a report by The Nation, Alhassan said the double track have been laid up to km 133, adding that the contractor has promised that the double track would get to Ibadan by July ending.

He added that it is only when the two lines have gotten to Ibadan that attention will now be shifted to the provision of ancillary services such as the provision of train stations and other rail infrastructures.

Alhassan praise President Muhammadu Buhari and equally hailed the former Minister of Transportation Mr Rotimi Amaechi for his commitment, persistence and sacrifice to the railway project which he said have led to the transformation being witnessed on the corridor.

The government said more coaches and locomotives will be procured to start operations on the Iju-Ibadan corridor while work continues on the Lagos end up to the Apapa station.
